How do I select subassemblies from an assembly model?
First, select a part that belongs to the assembly. Once the part is selected, a faint mini toolbar will appear above and to the right of the cursor. From this toolbar, you can:

Select the assembly the part belongs to

Use the plus (+) button to move one level up in the hierarchy

Use the minus (–) button to move one level down

Use the right-hand button to select the top-level assembly
