G4 Installation Tips

Installation Path

In practice, when using a network server, the Vertex program is installed in a dedicated folder that is shared with the users who will be running the software.
When the installation program prompts for the "Select Destination Location," the installation path should be entered specifically in this shared format.

Example:

  • The installation is done on the "VERTEXSRV" server’s D drive

  • A folder named VERTEXJAKO is created in the root of the D drive and shared

  • During installation, refer to the folder as:
    \\VERTEXSRV\VERTEXJAKO\vertex_srv

Do not refer to the folder as:
D:\VERTEXJAKO\vertex_srv
because this path will not be accessible from client machines.

Update Path

When updating the program, the update installer checks the Registry for the program’s installation path.
It then suggests updating to the path found in the Registry. In this case, continue the installation by accepting the suggested path.
If, for some reason, the installer does not find the path in the Registry, the path must be entered manually.
In all cases, the path should be verified before proceeding.

License Server

Note that after selecting "Custom Installation", you will be able to choose the installation type: either

  • Local installation (Install locally...) or

  • Network server installation (Install on network server...)

This step does not install the license server.
The license server must be installed separately using a dedicated installation package, provided if the license server was ordered with the software subscription or purchased later.
