Free Section View

Create freeform cutting shapes in assembly drawings

Freeform sectioning enables the creation of more versatile sectional projections

You can easily create sectioned projections in exploded views and isometric projections. The cutting shape can also adapt to changes in the part's geometry.

How do you create a cutting tool in an assembly model?

Model a component in the assembly and set its properties to “Section Projection.” You can use all standard modeling tools to create the part.

You can model multiple freeform section tools or arrange them in different configurations to produce the projections required by the drawing.

Activate the section for the projection in the drawing

First, create a projection from the desired direction and select “Freeform Section” from the context menu. The software will then process the model surfaces and generate the desired section in the drawing.
