Graphics Issues Related to Nvidia Graphics Card Driver

Depending on the hardware configuration and Windows version, the following issues may occur when working with a Vertex model after updating the graphics card driver:

  • The selected object is not highlighted in a different color until you zoom in or out.

  • The highlight color of the selected object disappears when you zoom in or out.

  • The selected object has no handles.

  • The object to be copied is not visible at the cursor.

  • 3D clipping of the model does not work.

  • Model rotation is choppy.

  • Constraints are displayed incompletely in the model.

Such issues have recently been reported by users with Windows 10 and an Nvidia graphics card.
For some, the problems began after the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709. For others, the problem occurs even without a Windows update.

So far, the issue has been resolved in the following ways:

  1. Install an older Nvidia graphics card driver than the one currently in use. Download the driver from Nvidia’s website.

  2. If problems persist, try an even older driver version until you find one that works.

  3. If you are using a Dell computer with the Feature update to Windows 10 (version 1709) and Precision Optimizer, disable Precision Optimizer, then download the driver from Nvidia’s website. This Windows update was released in November 2017.

  4. The most reliable way to update the driver is to download the installation package from www.nvidia.com and run the installer.

How to check your Nvidia graphics driver version:

  • Right-click the desktop and select Nvidia Control Panel.

  • Select System Information to view details about the graphics card and driver.
