Computer cannot find the HASP driver

This instruction applies to users who have a HASP protection module and whose operating system is changing.

After new Windows updates (starting in fall 2017), the HASP driver no longer installs automatically on clean Windows 7/8/10 installations. Previously, the driver installation succeeded simply by plugging the HASP protection module into a USB port.

The problem occurs in the following situations:

  • Vertex software is installed on a new computer with Windows 7/8/10.

  • Vertex software is installed on an old computer whose operating system is updated (for example Windows 7 → Windows 10).

  • When starting the program, a window appears saying that the license file could not be found, and it asks for a license activation code. The HASP module ID does not appear in the system information, which indicates a driver problem.

New computer

A new computer with Windows 7/8/10 and the latest Windows updates installed. The HASP driver does not install automatically.

When installing Vertex, if the installer asks whether to install the HASP driver included in the package, select Yes.

If you selected No, you can install the driver manually using the instructions below.

Old computer with updated operating system

A computer whose operating system has been updated, for example from Windows 7 to Windows 10, with the latest Windows updates installed.

The HASP driver is no longer found.

  • If you still have the Vertex installation package, you can manually install the driver included in it.

  • If the installation package is no longer available, request the driver package from technical support.

Install the driver manually

  1. Open Command Prompt in administrator mode.

  2. If you extracted the installation package into C:\TEMP, run the command:

CODE
C:\TEMP\[installation_package_name]\bin\haspdinst[version].exe -i

For example:

CODE
C:\TEMP\Vertex-G4-2018-24-0-04-fi\bin\haspdinst760.exe -i
  1. Wait until the installation completes (Please wait..Operation successfully completed).

Note: The driver cannot be installed directly from a compressed file; the installation package must be extracted first. Right-click the compressed file and select Extract All....

If you received the driver package from technical support, follow the instructions included with it.

How to check if the HASP driver is installed

Do you want me to also translate the final section about checking the HASP driver installation (which seems to be missing from your text here), or should I stop at this point?
