Spaces and Zones

To comply with the changing building regulations, starting from 2025 (delayed), Finland has mandated the use of Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) for building permit applications. 

Similar requirements are reported from some other countries as well related to certain type of the buildings.

In order to meet the regulatory standards, BIM systems used in the design process should be capable of producing IFC models that include the required content.

The IFC model should encompass rooms and apartments as spaces, as well as provide area and volume information for zones or spaces (to be further specified).
