ECR

Purpose of use

The Flow object ECR is related to the change management of design objects, mostly items. A new revision is always preceded by an observation or idea of the need for change. It's useful to document this need so that the original idea behind the change can be revisited later. The need for change can be documented in Flow within the ECR object, where discussions about the potential implementation of the change take place, and all discussions and brainstorming are captured on the ECR object card.

If the change is decided to be implemented, a new Engineering Change Order (ECO) is attached to the Change Request (ECR). Even if the change is not implemented, the ECR object is not deleted; only its status is changed. So, the ECR merely indicates the need for change, and the attached ECO specifies it for planning purposes

  • ECR = Engineering Change Request.
