Revisions
General
The object (such as a drawing) can be edited without revision primarily in the object's drafting stage.
The object and its revision can generally be referenced by the document's name and date, but a more precise specification is to use the object's version number, referred to as the revision identifier in Flow.
The revision identifier can be a number or a letter.
See setting the revision identifier: Revision identifier format
Revision is always done after editing the object when returning the object.
When to revise
If an object has been shared with others (published) and changes are made to it, it must be revised. In the future, when referring to the object, its revision identifier must also be mentioned.
In Flow, objects have access to workflows that indicate the level of readiness of the object (for example, DRAFT - READY - APPROVED - OUTDATED).
Different workflows can be defined for different types of objects. Workflows are typically defined during the implementation phase of Flow.
See: Workflows
Recommendations or requirements for creating a new revision can be specified in the workflow.
Generally, you cannot return an approved object with the same revision, meaning you cannot overwrite an approved document.
You can usually create a new revision of an object if you want to preserve the previous revision for some reason.
