Create geometry for the item
General
This guide describes functionality where the item has been created in Flow but does not yet have geometry.
This method is suitable for design projects where the future product structure is reasonably well known before any geometric plans exist.
Working with Vertex G4 in connection with Flow: Vertex G4
Open an Item
(1) Select the function File > Open or
Archive | Documents > Open or
Open the browser by pressing the B key (B = Browser).
The program will open G4's general browser, which allows you to browse for the object to be opened.
(2) Browse and select the item.
If the item was created recently, it may be found in the browser under History.
(3) Open the item and its related model or drawing by double-clicking the item or
Select the item and choose the contextual action Open.
Vertex G4 opens the dialog window New Item / Document.
(4) Select the document type:
Part = Part model
Assembly = Assembly model
Drawing = 2D drawing
(5) If necessary, add a link to the product or project.
We recommend that only the top-level item of the product structure (item structure) be linked to the product or project.
The link can also be created in Flow after the plans are completed.
See: Add Link
(6) Open the item's document for editing by selecting OK.
G4 opens the desktop for the selected document type for the item.
Alternative Way to Create Geometry for an Item in Flow
(1) Select the function Archive | Documents > New or
File > New.
Vertex G4 opens the dialog window New Item / Document.
(2) Select the document type:
Part = Part model
Assembly = Assembly model
Drawing = 2D drawing
(3) Select Existing.
The Search function will be activated.
(4) Select the function Search.
Vertex G4 opens the browser and displays the items.
(5) Browse the items or alternatively select or enter search criteria.
Note: A convenient way to search for recently created items is to select Created and set the search to the most recent day or month.
If you entered search criteria, select Search.
(6) Select the item by double-clicking it.
(7) Choose the document type for the geometry you want to create for the item:
Part = Part model
Assembly = Assembly model
Drawing = 2D drawing
(8) Create the item by selecting OK.
G4 will open the desktop for the selected document type for the item.
Save and Return the Item and Related Documents
Save the Model/Drawing
During the design process, periodically save the model/drawing using the function:
File > Save or
Using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + S or
Select from the Quick Access Toolbar.
You can stop working with Vertex G4 without returning the item and its related documents to Flow, in which case they will be saved in Vertex G4's local archive.
This way, you can continue designing the geometry even without network access.
