FEA Beams and Frames

Please check the detailed instructions: Vertex FEA and FEA for Beams and Frames

Analyzing the strength of these demo models requires that you have a Vertex FEA option:

  • FEA. Beam structure (Code VXO-465, option code: o161).

Glass Terrace (Model: Ex_FEA_Terrace.vxz)

  • The model shows the body of a glass window terrace, which is analyzed with respect to the falling snow load.
  • The roof area is 14 m2 and the roof is designated as the calculated maximal snow load 4130 kg = 41 kN. In this case, the area load becomes 3 kN/m2.

Download this packaged demo model Ex_FEA_terrace.vxz  (844 KB)

  • Save it to your computer or open it directly (the version must be at least 25.0.00).
  • Drag the file onto Vertex G4 (version should be at least 25.0.00).
  • The Model and its Drawing are stored in the project VERTEX_EXAMPLE.

Ramp (Model Ex_FEA_Ramp.vxz)

  • The model shows a ramp for exploring the load bearing capacity of the bridge, and it is judged whether the profiles could be changed to lighter profiles.
  • The weight of five persons is calculated as a load รก 100 kg and motorcycle (Harley Davidson Fat Boy) weight 317 kg ie in total 817 kg (= 8kN). The load safety factor has been taken 2, so the load is 16 kN. This load is divided into a space load on the bridge surface area (14,5 m2), which is then 1,1 kN/m2.
  • The bridge's own weight is 1191 kg = 11,7 kN.
  • The bridge is supported by fixed supports in its corners.

Gap Support (Model: Ex_FEA_Support.vxz)

  • The model shows a slope on the grain dumpster (the slides are symmetrical)The volume of the quill is 55 m3 and weight has been calculated for grain 800 kg/m3, so the gap is directed 44 tn weight ie 432 kN so 216 kN / half.
  • The surface area of the support structure is 7,5m2 so the area load is 29 kN/m2.
  • The bottom of all legs is supported by fixed supports.

Ring (Model: Ex_FEA_Beam_1.vxz)

  • The lower edges of the pillar columns are rigidly attached to the base. The five parts of the ring are hinged to one another.
  • The load coming from the roof is described with 8 kN/m linear loads applied to the upper rims of the loop against the roof.
  • The calculation of the weight of the profiles is also taken into account.

Space Ring (Model: Ex_FEA_Beam_2.vxz)

  • The bottom of each column is rigidly attached to its base.
  • The roof load is divided by five 8 kN / m linear loads for long I-profiles.
  • The calculation of the weight of the profiles is also taken into account.
