Fields in the Product Structure Tabs

General Information

The product structure includes several functionalities, which is why the Structure block is divided into several tabs:

  • Parts

  • Documents

  • Equipment Cards

  • Manufacturing

  • Spare Parts

  • Configuration

  • Additional Information

The item must be reserved in order to edit its structure using the tabs in the Structure block.

About Product Structures in General: Product Structures.

Parts

This tab allows you to edit part numbering, remove and add parts, perform weight calculations, and define interchangeable parts.

Columns:

  • Object Type (e.g., Item)

  • Part = Part Number

  • Identifier = Item Identifier

  • Revision = Item Revision

  • Status = Item Status

  • Description (fi) and Description 2 (fi) = Item Descriptions

  • Dimensions = Includes, for example, cutting lengths by profile to differentiate parts within the same item

  • Quantity = Number of parts in the structure

  • Consumption/Unit = Flow calculates the consumption of raw material in the item's calculation units in some cases

  • Unit = The unit of measurement for the raw material (e.g., pcs, m, m², kg)

  • Weight = Item weight in kilograms

  • Variant = The variant number (e.g., the steel rim number is 1, the aluminum rim number is 2, etc.)

Documents

In this tab, you can view which documents are attached to the part of the structure row. Text documents are also displayed.

The Documents tab is not shown if the item is reserved for editing.
You cannot edit the item structure using the Documents tab.

Columns:

  • Object Type (e.g., Model)

  • Part = Part Number

  • Identifier = Item Identifier

  • Revision = Item Revision

  • Status = Item Status

  • Description (fi) and Description 2 (fi) = Item Descriptions

Manufacturing

In the item's manufacturing structure tab, production-related information can be passed to the ERP system for production management. Often, this information is completed only in the ERP system, but it is also possible to supplement it within Flow.

Different ERP systems require or benefit from different data, so it is essential to specify the ERP system and understand its usage pattern to comprehensively explain the meaning of each of these columns.
The data entered into Flow can help facilitate work planning, which would otherwise need to be done in the ERP after the item structure is transferred from Flow to ERP.

Columns:

  • Object Type (e.g., Item)

  • Part = Part Number

  • Identifier = Item Identifier

  • Description (fi) and Description 2 (fi) = Item Descriptions

  • Quantity = Number of parts in the structure

  • Unit = Unit of measurement for the raw material (e.g., pcs, m, m², kg)

  • Additional % = Extra amount of material to allocate as a percentage of material needs. Used in ERP.

  • Waste % = Waste percentage of raw material. Defined as a percentage of the raw material left over from the part. Used in ERP.

  • Consumption Estimated = Consumption not estimated / Consumption is estimated.

  • Phase = ERP work phase identifier, where the resource or structure is assigned to a specific work phase (e.g., welding).

  • Activity = Specifies the work phase in more detail, e.g., "MIG welding," "stick welding," "robot welding."

  • Disassembly = The real item structure of a "pseudo item" appearing as a single line in the configurator is broken down from the "lower level" into the structure, including materials.

  • Quantity Dependency = Relates to quantity handling in the ERP. Quantity dependency can be "Fixed," meaning, for example, two connectors are needed for cable ends regardless of cable length (quantity), or "Relative," meaning, for example, six screws are always needed for a flange, but the number of screws is multiplied by the main item quantity.

Spare Parts

This differs from the manufacturing structure in that parts delivered as spare parts or consumables are "marked" in the corresponding column with a checkbox.

Columns:

  • Object Type (e.g., Item)

  • Part = Part Number

  • Identifier = Item Identifier

  • Spare Part Description = Item description in spare part details

  • Quantity = Number of parts in the structure

  • Consumption/Unit = Flow calculates raw material consumption in item measurement units in certain cases.

  • Unit = Unit of measurement for the raw material (e.g., pcs, m, m², kg)

    • Not a Spare Part / Is a Spare Part = Determines whether the item is a sellable spare part.

    • Not a Consumable / Is a Consumable Part = Determines whether the item is a consumable spare part used during operations.

Configuration

In the configuration tab, variability, or configurability, can be defined for the structure.

Columns:

  • Object Type (e.g., Item)

  • Part = Part Number

  • Identifier = Item Identifier

  • Description (fi) and Description 2 (fi) = Item descriptions

  • Quantity = Number of parts in the structure

  • Consumption/Unit = Flow calculates raw material consumption for the item.

  • Unit = Unit of measurement for the raw material (e.g., pcs, m, m², kg).

  • Usage Code = Used in DS, simplifying management of alternatives. For example, specific door items in the structure can be classified as exterior doors, fire doors, or interior doors, enabling the configurator to change all interior doors to another type at once, regardless of their location in the item structure.

    • Not used in the Vertex G4 configurator.

  • Technical Parameters = Used in DS to control dimensions' variability and parts' relationships with each other.

    • Not used in the Vertex G4 configurator.

  • Variant = The number of the alternative or variant, e.g., steel rim number is 1, aluminum rim X number is 2, etc.

  • Condition = The name(s) of the structural option(s) and logical operators (and, or). Note that if there is no condition, the structure is always included.

Additional Information

  • Object Type (e.g., Item)

  • Part = Part Number

  • Identifier = Item Identifier

  • Description (fi) and Description 2 (fi) = Item descriptions

  • Additional Information = Verbal explanations

  • Transfer Restriction = Transfer is not restricted / Transfer to ERP is restricted

  • Transferred = Flow adds this selection once the structure row transfer is complete.

  • Structure Transfer = Checkbox that can manually initiate the transfer of the item to ERP in this structure. (Normally, the item’s Status controls the ERP transfer.)
