Making Multi-Selection

This guide will help you learn how to select multiple items using the left mouse button in combination with the ‘Ctrl’ and ‘Shift’ keys. These techniques are useful for efficiently managing and organizing multiple items at once. 

Using the ‘Ctrl’ Key for Multi-Selection

The ‘Ctrl’ key allows you to select multiple individual items one by one. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Select the First Item:

a.      Click on the first item you want to select using the left mouse button.

  1. Add More Items:

a.      Hold down the ‘Ctrl’ key on your keyboard.

b.     While holding the ‘Ctrl’ key, click on additional items you want to select. Each click will add the item to your selection without deselecting the others.

Deselect Items:

If you accidentally select an item you don’t want, simply click on it again while holding the ‘Ctrl’ key to deselect it.

Using the ‘Shift’ Key for Range Selection

The ‘Shift’ key allows you to select a continuous range of items. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Select the First Item:

a.      Click on the first item in the range you want to select using the left mouse button.

  1. Select the Last Item:

a.      Hold down the ‘Shift’ key on your keyboard.

b.     While holding the ‘Shift’ key, click on the last item in the range you want to select. All items between the first and last item will be selected.

Combining ‘Ctrl’ and ‘Shift’ Keys

You can combine the ‘Ctrl’ and ‘Shift’ keys to make complex selections. Here’s how:

Select a Range:

Use the ‘Shift’ key to select a range of items as described above.

Add Individual Items:

Hold down the ‘Ctrl’ key and click on additional items outside the selected range to add them to your selection.

Deselect Individual Items:

While holding the ‘Ctrl’ key, click on any selected item to remove it from your selection.
