Vertex ED Service Packs
Vertex ED 2023 will be released on November 16, 2022
Service Packs
New major version is released once a year. These include new features and functionality enhancements.
About once a month we release service packs including improvements and new features to our software products based on the feedback from our customers.
The latest service pack always includes all the previously released fixes and improvements.
See the content of the service packs for the main versions.
The service pack includes updates that apply for the main version. You cannot upgrade an old release 28.0.xx to the new 29.0.xx with a service pack.
- The first number of the software version tells the main version, the second number tells the possible intermediate version and the third number is the service pack number.
- Therefore, be sure to check that the main version of the service pack's label is the same as in the program you are using.
- For example, with the Vertex-ED-2023-29-0-en-update-01.exe patch, you can update any older 2023 or 29.0.xx version to version 29.0.01.
- For example, with the Vertex-ED-2022-28-0-en-update-16.exe patch you can update any older 2022or 28.0.xx version to version 28.0.16.
Some remarks about updating the previous main version to the new main version
Compatibility of file formats between versions
You cannot read drawings created or edited with newer main versions in older main versions.
Before upgrading the main version to the new main version, please note:
COOPERATION
- If you work with other Vertex users or your principal has Vertex and you provide them drawings, you should agree on a common date when the main version of the program will be updated.
FLOW-CONNECTED Vertex ED
- If the Vertex ED is connected to Vertex Flow, both must be updated at the same time.
- To upgrade the Flow main version, please contact Vertex Systems Oy.
LICENSE OF THE SOFTWARE
The Vertex ED software needs a valid license to operate. The license is used to control the available program options.
- Find out which technique is used to manage the Vertex software licenses in your company.
- Older techniques need a separate protection file for each major version. The protection file should be stored in order for the program to be launched after the main version upgrade.
- Refer to the installation instructions for software licensing procedures: Vertex G4 2023 licensing.
NETWORK SERVER vs SINGLE INSTALLATION
Companies with more than one Vertex ED software running (without Flow) should use the network server installation so that all designers can work with common models, drawings, and libraries if needed.
- When using a network server, both the main version and the fix version must be updated on the network server, not on the workstations.
- The Vertex ED on the workstation updates itself from the network server at the next re-start.
